Church Events
Join us for annual picnics, Sunday fellowship lunches, water baptisms, new believers' groups, and more.
Annual Church Picnics
Our annual church picnic, held at Taughannock State Park, takes place each summer. We enjoy great food and fellowship. We gather at the park's pavilion, surrounded by several picnic tables. The park offers a swimming area, a children's playground, and open spaces where we can set up a volleyball net. The children's ministry also provides special games for the children.
Our summer chicken barbecue picnic is held on the church property. Throughout the year, we also have a few dish-to-pass fellowship dinners. These events aim to provide an opportunity for fun and for people to get to know one another in the church, especially newcomers.
Sunday Fellowship Lunches
Six times a year, we plan Sunday fellowship lunches following our 10 a.m. service. These lunches range from soup and sandwiches to crockpot or chili specials and Italian dishes. We also provide some vegetarian and gluten-free options and plenty of dessert. The goal of these fellowship times is to welcome new people and allow them to get to know others at Agape, as well as to provide an opportunity for regular attendees to mingle with those in the congregation they may not know well. We have found that the Lord uses these opportunities to help people open up to one another on various levels, fostering a healthy, open atmosphere in the church.
Special Services or Groups
Water baptism services are held at a neighboring church in Trumansburg, and baptism in the Holy Spirit seminars and new believers' groups are held at Agape.
NYC Style Stickball
In the fall of 2016, a fun event took place that we plan to repeat. Pastor Mike gathered a group of men, women, and children and demonstrated a game from NYC called 'stickball'. Due to rain, the event took place in a local building's garage, but everyone still played and enjoyed the game with Pastor Mike, who had been looking forward to teaching them 'NYC-style stickball.'
